Andrea Brustolon. 28 marzo - 12 luglio 2009.
Presentation
To honour this great event dedicated to the sculptor from Belluno, Andrea Brustolon, the entire province of Belluno has collaborated with the Municipality so as to offer visitors the possibility of discovering the artist's vast and amazing historical – artistical patrimony which has been preserved in churches and museums throughout the territory of Belluno.
The artist's numerous artefacts can still be admired today, positioned in the actual locations they were created or commissioned for. In this way, visitors can truly appreciate the context the art works were made for by really seeing them in place in churches and museums. This also provides a deeper understanding of the sculptor and his preparation, yet at the same time visitors get to recognize the value of the masterpieces even more as they are viewed within a real context and not within a showcase.

In order to valorise the artist, the organizing committee has chosen six emblematic edifices to represent Andrea Brustolon's works. These churches and museums will remain open for the duration of the exhibition and the opening hours will be available on brochures and information notice boards at the exhibition. The following is a list of the edifices:

  • Civic Museum of Belluno (Museo Civico)
  • San Pietro Church (Belluno)
  • The Diocesano Museum in Feltre
  • The San Floriano Church In the valley Val di Zoldo situated in Pieve di Zoldo
  • The Church dedicated to San Valentino in the valley Val di Zoldo situated in Pieve di Zoldo – Mareson
  • The Saints Rocco and Osvaldo Church in the area of Comelico in the town Dosoledo
In addition to the abovementioned itineraries provided by the Province of Belluno, there are a further eighteen itineraries available in the booklet entitled Andrea Brustolon and his Work Shop – Itineraries within the province of Belluno, by Anna Maria Spiazzi and Marta Mazza of the Administrative Offices for Historical Property, Artists and Ethno Anthropologists within the Provinces of Venice, Belluno, Padua and Treviso. The publication of this booklet has been edited by Skira and includes descriptive charts of Brustolon's work in collaboration with workers from his work shop. These itineraries will take visitors to unknown lands and places which are brimming with marvellous historical context — starting from Belluno and then meandering towards the areas known as Feltrino, Alpago, Agordino, Zoldano, Cadore and Comelico.
