In celebration of the Brustolon Exhibition, the Congregation Museum hosts various sections of Sacred Art dedicated to the prestigious artist from Belluno, including: sculptures, drawings and sketch comparisons with contemporary artists present within the territory.
The sculpture section proposes several diverse works of art like the famous, Holy Virgin ascending to heaven from the Seminary of Feltre, which is considered one of Brustolon's finest sacred masterpieces. Then, there are also the Four Evangelists of San Fermo, the Plois d'Alpago Crucifix, the Angels of Igne and the Bishop's Shield and Emblem pro-tempore from the Basilica — Cathedral of Belluno. The section dedicated to drawings displays some of the artist's first sketches on paper regarding his future wood projects. For the exhibition, the Civic Museum of Belluno has donated the artist's preparatory studies for his works on the Madonna ascending to the heavens, Saint Giuseppe's Angels, a Crucifix and for the first time on display some sacred drawings by kind concession of the Gregorian Seminary - the Da Borso Collection. The third section of the Exhibition examines the multiple links that Andrea Brustolon has with contemporary artists, foremost the celebrated Sebastiano Ricci. The Congregation Museum has donated five of Ricci's paintings, among which the celebrated Baptism of Christ from the Certosa of Vedana collection. The sketched drawings by Brustolon of this baptism are also on display, by kind concession of the Civic Museum of Belluno.
Other contemporary painters and sculptors strongly influenced Brustolon's works, among these Luca Giordano, in fact the Congregation Museum hosts an intense painting of a contrite Saint Gerolamo. Brustolon was inspired by this painting when he created the column depicting the Death of Saint Francesco Saverio situated in the San Pietro Church in Belluno. The painting of Giacobbe by Gaspare Dizioni a friend of Brustolon's, was also a source of inspiration in the creation of Giuseppe from the Sanctuary of Ss.Vittore and Corona, whereas the Madonna in Rococò style by Giacomo Piazzetta is from the Church of All Saints in Feltre.
