Work Shop 3
Andrea Brustolon: Painting within the Sculptor's Work Shop.

This initiative is ideal for all classes of primary schools and secondary schools plus the first and second year classes of secondary high schools. This programme was created and is lead by Paola Nard.

Duration : 90 minutes

As with the finishing process on the natural wood sculptures, even the painting of the poly-chrome works was an integral part of the artist's work. Not only his employees worked on creating the colours, as it was the maestro himself who laid the preparing layers and the colours on his works of art.

The educational activities on offer are finalized at demonstrating the practise of wood painting by showing all the working phases — from the preparation of the wooden support structure to the application of the layers of colour and varnish. The examples and practical experience activities shall then be compared to some of the examples on show at the exhibition.

The first part of the demonstration focalizes on theory and the actual technical aspects of Brustolon's work, beginning with some concepts regarding how a wooden poly chrome slate is actually made and then continuing into the exhibition rooms where students are able to admire and focalize their attention on the authentic works of art produced by the maestro and his co-workers in the Brustolon work shop. Each class teacher will be given a booklet which illustrates the various steps necessary for the preparation of a wooden slate, in this way teachers will be able to make a wooden slate at school with their students during art lessons.

This initiative takes place within the exposition rooms at the building Palazzo Crepadona. The participant price includes all the materials necessary and as this work shop is open to all ages, each work shop is adjustable to the specific requirements, interests and learning capacity of diverse age groups and classes.
